Delta del Ebro

Riumar is a privileged place, located between the end of the river Ebro and the sea, within the Natural Park of Delta de l’Ebre, 10 km away from the municipality of Deltebre.

It is a residential urbanization, quiet, mainly formed by houses. You will find all the services here: restaurants, supermarkets, butchers, bakery, fishing stores, etc.

It is characterized by its immensity and tranquility, where you can enjoy the sun and the beach, without too much people, in the middle of a natural setting. Riumar beach is almost four kilometers long and stretches along the eastern part of the Delta de l’Ebre. There are parking areas and showers. Frequent winds create very popular waves for surfers and windsurfers. To the south it is bordered by the Delta and the river, and it is only a few kilometers away from the river port of Deltebre, where cruises depart, as well as the area where adventure sports, recreational fishing boats and all kinds of elements for nautical sports can be rented.

Delta de l'Ebre is the largest wetland in Catalonia, with a surface area of 320 km2. It is one of the most important aquatic habitats of the western Mediterranean.

The landscape of the Delta has a strong personality. The extensive rice fields, changing depending on the season (earthy in winter, flooded with water in spring, green in summer) dominate the appearance of the Delta.

In the peripheral part we find great extensions of saline soils with long and deserted beaches, with plants well adapted to the environment.

Agriculture is one of the great economic bases of the Delta today, with a clear predominance of rice (more than 20,000 ha).

Fishing is also a fundamental activity, since the contribution of nutrients by the river Ebro favors the ports of Sant Carles de la Ràpita, L'Ampolla, Deltebre, Cases d'Alcanar, Ametlla de Mar and Vinaròs.
